The welcoming warm weather in Sissach set the tone for a perfect day for baseball. In game 1 the Frogs sweat out their first vicotry of the year over the Mustangs. Roger Savodelli pitched the complete game and finished without a win this weekend for the first time of the season. In the early innings the Mustangs looked strong like usual.
The surge of Mustang runs were triggered by a first inning solo dinger by Josh Crouse (Nebraska, USA). In the first three innings Embrach scored a combined 5 runs. Bruno Albrecht (Embrach, SUI) had 3 of the 5 RBIs. However the Frogs did not let up and returned with 5 runs of their own.
The Mustangs remained silent putting up zeros in the 4th through 7th inning. Along with the quiet bats, the Mustangs gave up 8 more runs and compiled 6 defensive errors. With the struggling defense, Embrach managed to challenge the Frogs in the 8th inning scoring 3 more runs, but this was not enough as the game ended with a score of 13-8.
In game 2 Embrach returned to normal form and put together a solid 7 innings of baseball. Chris Byrnes (New York, USA) started the game on the mound and pitched 3 solid innings allowing only 2 runs. Crouse finished the final 4 innings allowing only one hit in the 6th inning. While the Mustangs played good defense well throughout the game they were scoreless until the 6th inning when the busted out of the gates scoring 9 unanswered runs on 5 hits and 2 Sissach errors. The final score was Embrach 10, Sissach 2.
Embrach finished off regular season play against the Frogs winning the series 3 games to 1.
The Mustangs are still in a comfortable 2nd place in the NLA and will face off against the first place Therwil Flyers for the first time of the year next Saturday in Embrach.
